FAQ

Answers to commonly asked questions can be found below. If the answer to your question is not provided, please contact us using the information provided at the Contract page.

Q?

What age children does Beginnings serve?

A.

Children may enroll starting at age 3 months. Because babies are born ready to learn, we accept infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners through the age of 6. Neuroscience tells us that learning begins at birth, and research confirms that 90 percent of the brain is already developed within the first three years of life. At Beginnings, we make the most of this critical period of “neuroplasticity” to provide our students with a strong foundation that will serve them throughout their lives.

Q?

Does the School building have secured entrances?

A.

Yes. We take security very seriously. Our entrances are locked at all times, and parents receive custom codes to enter.

Q?

How are parents made aware of their children’s progress?

A.

Teachers communicate with parents on a daily basis at drop-off and pick-up. We also schedule regular parent-teacher meetings during which we review and discuss children’s progress. Communication with parents is an important part of our school. Our teachers and our founder are always available to talk with parents.

Q?

What is the best time to talk to the teacher if I have a question?

A.

We would discourage parents from trying to talk to a teacher in the morning as they are busy preparing for the school day. We would advise you to speak to the teacher at the end of the school day after all the children have been dismissed. We can also make appointments in the school office for parents to see the class teacher or another member of staff.

Q?

How can parents get involved?

A.

We encourage parents to get involved in various ways from attending trips to individual reading. We have a small fundraising team “Friends of Baring” and would welcome new members with new ideas and contacts. If you work for a company that is able to sponsor or donate to fundraising in the school please contract through phone or email subject: fundraising.

If you are asked to help or you would like to help please see Pricipal in the school office to go through some paperwork!.

Q?

Who determines the school curriculum?

A.

The Ministry of Education sets curriculum policy and defines what teachers are required to teach and students are expected to learn in each grade and subject. A consistent, provincewide curriculum is thereby ensured. However, teaching and assessment strategies are left to the professional judgement of teachers, enabling them to address individual student needs and deliver the curriculum in a context that is locally meaningful.

Q?

What happens if the school is closed for an emergency?

A.

In any situation where the school has to be closed or opening times changed the information will be sent via Parent Mobile SMS or eMail .It is best to contact the school if you suspect there is a likelihood of a closure. This information is also put on the Home Page of our school website.
